Dilemma!

I've been battling with the dilemma to watermark my scans or not.
It's tough, the pics are not mine, but I have bought the mags they are in and took the time to scan em and process them. (enhanced em in photoshop and whatnot)
If I don't watermark 'em, all my work ends up all over the place on the internet, but if I do I butt some people in the head cause I watermark stuff that's not actually mine to begin with!
Either way, is there a solution so that everybody is happy!??

Comment the subject here and now or forever hold your peace ;-)

  5. I say watermark away! It takes a lot of time to scan, process and post pictures, especially old magazine pages... properly anyway. Oh sure, anyone can snap a pic of an old Easyriders magazine with their cell phone but and post it up, but to actually make it look decent is another animal entirely... DPI, color correction, moire and descreening, it's all a huge pain in the ass. In my opinion anyone who knows how, and does this the right way deserves to add their mark it. So keep on blog brother, keep on!
(...but there will still be those turds that take your photo and try and remove your watermark, that I find hilarious!)

  6. I think Johnny is onto something.
I would create a joint watermark, something with the magazine name and the ZZ Chop logo...like this:

    Sleazyriders
    via
    ZZ Chop

  7. First off let me say that you're doing an awesome job of bringing us photos from the old scene. You could watermark the photos but why go through the trouble? I mean, aren't you just trying to protect yourself from what you've done to someone else's work? I say just let it be, if someone is determined to benefit from your work they will find some way to do it watermark or not. Just my 2 cents.

It's funny, cause I've been doing this blog thing since 2009, and always felt kinda funny with the whole watermark thing, so I'm glad to get it off my chest and hear what you guys think of it.
We'll see how it goes in the future, thanks for the input dudes!

  10. I'm usually glad someone watermarks their uploads, 'cause when I stumble upon a 'borrowed' picture on the net, I know where it comes from, and thus where to find more pics like that.
It's not a matter of superiority or ego.
